Aere is a life-long composer. She composed a piano sonata as a teenager, and is currently composing music for symphony orchestra. She worked in the computer industry for most of her life, enabling her to create the KeyMusician Keyboard software application.
Malcolm was a non-musician, who quickly learned on the KeyMusician Keyboard, and from that experience, became a big proponent of getting it out to the world. He has university training in learning theory. He is also an experienced videographer.
Together, they produced the Music-Lab Discovery Lesson video lessons, as well as the Help and Tutorial pages installed with the software. They also perform together, using the musical instrument they developed. They have done performances over an hour in length, totally consisting of improvised music.
